Can’t remember much of what I put, but the date of Batman was 1992, and the last solo instrument was a Cello if I remember correctly

The first instrument for Anoushka Shankar was a flute and the last solo instrument was a cello
There was also another question for Shankar that was what section of the music it was from and the answer was verse 3
The other questions I can’t remember
But if anyone can remember other answers that would be helpful to see roughly how many marks people go on section A

The intervals in Berlioz were major 3rd (I misheard it as a perfect 5th 😢) and minor 6th, in Batman it was a perfect 4th, Shankar the intervals were a minor 3rd and perfect 4th

Has anyone used the study guide. Is it any good for helping with the essays?

Yes it’s really worth reading through some of their advice on essays and reading the exemplar paragraphs for each grade

Is anyone else kind of sad that the A Level is over?? I'm not studying music at uni but I'd kind of like to learn more about some specific pieces and genres on the spec. My first intro to the Beatles was studying them in year 12 lol. I'll probably have a go at playing through some of the solos in SF and Rite of Spring as they're great too. During the A Level did any pianists have a play through some of the pieces like Clara Schumann's piano trio? Just an interesting thought 😊

I've always thought actual A-levels were a little silly, not a proper assessment of my musical knowledge, but the lessons were certainly fun. Better than my sciences for sure!
I learnt both Debussy pieces on the piano, and we did have a proper play through of Schumann, but I was playing the violin part on the clarinet. We also did psycho, and I was always left reading the viola part 😭. Also sang Vaughan Williams a couple of times.

Because I like the pieces? Started learning them both for revision and for personal enjoyment

Do any of you know why the Music A level on the Edexcel grade boundaries 2024 is shown as being out of 250 marks? I thought it was 60+60+100=220.

You've got to do a bit more maths than that. Like, if you get 50% in your performance, that's not 30 marks (30/60) overall, it's actually 15 marks as performance is 30% of the whole a level and you've got half of that. It's a bit confusing.

i can never do them like how does anyone get them right unless they can hear it which i can't lol

Hi! I'm doing a University study on gender differences in how people express academic difficulties, would you mind telling me your gender- it would be of huge help to my study (all data is anonymous so your name etc. will not be needed or used)
