IGCSE English language

So I am in year 12 and I would like to apply to any vet med unis in the uk, and ive found out that the english requirements for igcse was a grade 6. However, i got a grade 5 for eng lang and a grade 6 for eng lit. Is it possible to apply with my eng lit grade or my ielts grade or am I just not meeting the entry requirements?

Hi, I don't think an English Lang grade is necessary and if you get a 7.5 in the IELTS, you would be fine. I just went through the websites of the University of Cambridge and Edinburgh. For Cambridge, an IELTS score of 7.5 with a minimum of 7.0 is preferred while for the University of Edinburgh only a grade 4 in English is needed so you'll be fine I presume.

I also do not have 7s in five subjects which I think is the requirement for most unis, I have two 7s and two 8s including chemistry, biology and math, do you think that would be fine or do I need a resit?

So the National Careers Service website just says 5 grades from 9 - 4 which you have so you will be fine. The University of Edinburgh says they only look at the grade obtained at the first attempt. I do not see anything about GCSEs for unis as A Levels are more important. I'd suggest you study for those as most unis want an AAA for vet med. If you do not achieve those grades however, the University of Nottingham is more lenient with a BBC. Good Luckk!!
