Offer of an admission

Hi,
I have recently applied at University of Leeds Mph in Public health. I got rejected and they sent an email saying 'The reason for this decision is that your qualification is not recognised by the University of Leeds as equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree, so you do not meet the minimum academic entry requirements for postgraduate study'
Can anyone elaborate this for me. Is it that the institution that gave me the degree is not recognized?

It depends - what is the degree you currently have and here is it from?
The reason itself is pretty self-explanatory - your currently qualifications don’t meet the standard required. Why that is is the question - if you have a bachelor’s degree which you believed was equivalent to a UK one, it might be something to take further but without more information no-one can really say.

If its an overseas degree it doesnt automatically make it the equivalent of a UK bachelors degree.

If your undergraduate qualification was awarded overseas, sometimes they aren't equally weighted to a UK undergraduate degree. When you apply to a UK institution, they need to know that you have the relevant underpinning knowledge to study at required standard. Often, you can do a short course to top-up your existing degree and meet the requirements. These are often run as summer schools by the universities themselves. It might be worth emailing the admissions tutor back and asking where you fall short, assuming that you are applying with a degree rather than a diploma or similar. They may be able to advise you.

One of the universities has a helpful international study qualification equivalence study drop down in their website, I think it's on UCL's MPH page (could be wrong on that).
