Wa alaikum salam, my dear sister in Islam first we need to establish that dreams come from a couple of sources:
Good dreams which please you, and have glad tidings come from Allah (swt). 'Good' refers to not only the bringing of good news, but can also be a warning of something you may not be aware of from your Lord.
Bad dreams which cause you distress and grief, such as what you have recounted above, come from the shaytaan. Evil during ramadan is weakened, however this does not mean that it may not occur.
Lastly, the final type of dream is what stems from what you have been thinking about and stored in your memory, such as something you may have experienced or saw in the day and then followed to see in your dream at night.
I don't know your personal circumstances, but this dream is most likely from the shaytaan. I can understand how you feel, but I want you acknowledge that a person has no blame as to what they see in their dreams as you have no control over that. I want you to reflect on some facts I found below:
"Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Alarm comes from the shaytaan. The shaytaan depicts to a person in his sleep things that alarm him with regard to himself, his wealth or his family, or in his community, because the shaytaan loves to make the believers sad, as Allaah says: “Secret counsels (conspiracies) are only from Shaytaan (Satan), in order that he may cause grief to the believers. But he cannot harm them in the least, except as Allaah permits”
Answer extracted from an online article from a sister who experienced recurring dreams of rape:
It is most predominantly a dream from the devil in order to spoil your life, and there is no doubt that this is a trial from Allaah. Therefore, we advise you not to fight the feeling of fear in order to avoid unpleasant consequences. You should know that a person is not sinful for what he sees in his dreams as he/she has no control over it; We advise you to earnestly supplicate Allaah in order to repel this nightmare from you. You should sleep while being in a state of ablution and say the legislated supplication of going to bed, perform Ruqyah, recite the morning and evening mention of Allaah, mention Allaah when entering the toilet, and other supplications by which a person protects himself/herself from evil and from the devil.
Now, I am not a person of knowledge, however, I did feel sympathy towards your experience, and as my sister in Islam I put it upon myself to do the small task of trying to do a bit of research posting this.
I did also have tough personal experiences in past ramadans where I would keep experiencing sleep paralysis, which would cause me a lot of fear as I would see and hear things that were very strange. I have also had dreams where someone is causing physical harm to me and it would feel really realistic oddly enough.
I have been experiencing some sleep paralysis this ramadan as well, however, I took action which I briefly explain below to stop it.
Funnily enough, my sleep paralysis would only happen during ramadan. Consider this: Ramadan is a time where YOU are getting closer to your Lord, and your faith is increasing through your actions. Do you think your sworn enemy (the devil) would appreciate this? Or would he not try to plot evil plans to hinder your growth and escape from him?
Now some practical actions which helped me and inshaAllah will help you:
When seeing a bad dream and waking up, spit dryly to the left, seek refuge in Allah and turn your side.
BEFORE going to sleep, take action to protect yourself. Reading ayatul kursi as a minimum is very important. To stop my sleep paralysis during ramadan, or at least reduce it, I would also recite the 4 Quls and last two verses of surah Baqarah, blow into my hands and try to 'wipe' it as far as you can over your body. It's also good practice to 'dust' your bed before going onto it to sleep, as you never know what may've settled on your bed.
The answer has dragged on for reaaally long, and there is a lot that is not included, but don't stress sister, and take action in terms of protecting yourself and continue to do good! 😃
