Most RG universities will accept some access diplomas for some of their courses. You need to be more specific about what subject you’re interested in applying for and what subject your Access Diploma is in.

What is it about the RG that’s appealing to you?

I'm currently studying an access course and I've received offers from Edinburgh, St Andrews, UCL and Exeter, and I am currently waiting to hear back from Cambridge. A lot of my friends on the course are your age and have also received offers from a myriad of RG unis so I wouldn't let an access course deter you!

(I am studying an access to Humanities course btw and have applied to study history at undergrad)

I’ve done an access course and i’ve been accepted to do nursing at hull and lincoln. Look at the unis you want to go to and go to entry requirements and then click on the access to HE option and it will tell you if they accept it/what access course is required to join that uni!

I found Nottingham, Exeter and Bristol to be receptive when applying as a mature student with an Access course. Very reasonable. I found KCL, Edinburgh, Manchester and Warwick to be the opposite. Perhaps it differs by course and department.

I don't know about 19/20 year olds specifically.

Nottingham does, Birmingham do but give very high offers (all distinctions). Also agree about Warwick being difficult (asking for a cv/work history).

The majority of universities accept access to higher education. I have an offer from UCL and have had offers from many others too.

Hey. I am just finishing my Access Course (Law) and have 3 assignments left. I received 4/5 offers from all top RG unis - Bristol, Exeter, Notts etc. Many of my classmates got into top RGs and they're in their teens, early 20s and some 30-40+. My GCSEs aren't great considering the calibre of the average applicant to most RG universities but it doesn't seem to matter. Feel free to ask for any advice. Good luck!
