UBC vs Cambridge

I recently got an offer to pursue a PhD track at UBC at the CS department. The offer is fully funded and I will get a stipend of 3000 CAD per month as well.
Simultaneously I have an offer from Cambridge in Scientific Computing ( MPhil ) and it is currently completely unfunded. I am inclined to pick Cambridge , however does the university actually hold a very prestigious value outweighing what UBC has to offer? I am an international student for reference

what would you like to do (and maybe where) after the PhD?
for instance, i heard that professional positions tend to care less about where you obtain your qualifications and focus on your technical ability.
but if you want to stay in academia, in my home country(in asia), where you get your PhD/the prestige of your degree is paramount to gaining a tenured position.

I am not sure about a PhD at the moment, however I would love to work in the R&D department. I love working with GPUs and numerical solvers in general however am unsure if I will require a PhD for the same

If you want to work in R&D then why would you turn down a funded PhD? Take a. funded PhD every day of the week and back again. Pretty much anyone half bright can get an unfunded MPhil offer from Cambridge. Fully Funded PhD offers are like hen's teeth.
