Long Residency

Good morning, I have resided in the UK since 2002 and did not leave until 2022, after I received my Biometric Residence Permit (BRP). I took a two-week holiday and then returned to the UK. I have provided a status report from my bank, which confirms that I have maintained my account with them consistently from 2003 to the present. I have submitted to SFE the HM Tribunal in the UK documents of my immigration history letters from the court detailing my immigration history from 2002 to 2017. Additionally, I have provided letters from the Home Office regarding my leave to remain since 2020. Wouldn't this serve as evidence that I have been living in the UK for over 20 years? Please clarify. Thank you in advance for your response.

Hi there,

If you have submitted the evidence the team would need to review this and confirm if they will accept it not. If there is any issues they will normally email you, it may go to your junk folder.

Thanks,
Claire

Thank you for your response. Yes I received a response asking for more evidence of long residency. The issue I'm having is finding 20 years worth of mail. Even student finance deletes data after several years. It is extremely tricky getting mails, since establishments erase your data over a period of time. What choice does as applicant in situations like these? (Thinking out loud).

Hi there,

We would require evidence to cover specific periods (stated in email) and we would require this for your eligibility. If you are unable to attain the evidence you could speak directly to the Home Office to see if they could assist.

Thanks, Ross

Good morning Ross, I filled out the Home Office form yesterday regarding this. I am now about to post off bank statements from 2009 to date. I also just received a letter from Bromley council, stating that I was on their electoral role from 2006 to 2008, will that be credible please?

To add my dentist will send a letter stating I have been a patient since 2007.

Hi 1stKkbless1*,

We can accept UK bank statements and NHS, GP, and consultant letters as evidence. From the information I have available it does not state that we can accept letters from your dentist or a council letter confirming that you were on the electoral roll.

Thanks,
Calum

Thank you. I spoke to someone via phone who said if letter is from the council stamped and signed, stating residency statis over a period, I should send it and so I did. Take care for now

Hi there,

You should definitely include the council letter: these aren't normally acceptable evidence, but there's no harm in including it as supporting evidence.

Thanks, Graeme

Good afternoon and thank you Graeme.
I am working on getting 20 years acceptable proof of residency. I came up with 20 years However, some were considered not acceptable even though they are from the HMTribunal and a status query letter from the bank verifying 21 years as a customer. As a result of this, I now have 15 years of acceptable residency proof such as: Leave to Remain, bank statement, court letter, council tax bills. I have reached out to the Home Office to see if they'll give me a detailed copy of my immigration history. I hope they do and I hope it will be suffice on you side.

The Residency Status I received is not included in my list, however I wish it did because it covers 2006-2008. I'll trying getting other proof. Thanks again.

Okay, that's great - just to let you know, we're currently processing this kind of evidence in 12 working days.

So, once received it won't take long to get a response.

Thanks, Graeme

Good morning. Further evidence I have now sent to SFE are GP records for Dec 2004 to 2024. I am awaiting further proof of my immigration history from the Home Office and additional health record from the hospital to cover me being here prior to 2pp4 September. In spite of this I received an email from SFE that I am eligible to apply for long residency, thus my application is unsuccessful. Please can you clarify. Thank you for your response with this matter.
