Student Finance 2024- What is it/what does it cover, when should I apply by , etc..

Hi Guys,

I am planning to start uni in September and it may sound like a stupid question but:

- What exactly is student finance and what kind of things does it cover?

-How will I have access to it/ how do I know that I qualify?

- What is the 2024 deadline for this?

- Is the application process easy? What kind(s) of proof do I need?

TIA,

If eligible, you can apply for two loans: a tuition fee loan that gets paid direct to your uni to pay for your course, and a maintenance loan to help you pay for your accommodation and living expenses. The maintenance loan is means tested - the amount you may be entitled to reduces as houshold income increases. If you are normally resident in England, then you apply to Student Finance England. You will need your National Insurance number to apply. If your household income is less than £65k, then your parents will need to supply income details to get a higher maintenance loan. Applications are open now and it is better if you apply by May to ensure your funding is in place for the start of your course.
