Shadowing a barrister

I am interested in a legal career and I would love to shadow a barrister. I have no legal connections so this will be difficult. Would it be alright to straight up email a barrister or message them on Linkedin and ask to shadow them? Or is that rude/informal?
You can, and some might say yes, but you're better off finding your local sets (chambers), reading their mini pupillage policies, and applying to them directly. Most barristers you contact on LinkedIn will likely advise you to do that anyway. I expect very few will be willing to take a mini pupil who has just contacted them out of the blue on social media.
