Scared I won’t get into uni

I want to go to Bristol university for engineering and kinda did bad in gcse
I got a 777766554443
7-maths
7-physics
7-English language(got a 5 first time but 7 in retake)
But am on course for A*s in maths physics econ and my EPQ. I keep getting rejected from summer schools and I’m scared that I just can’t get into any uni and am wondering even if I get good a levels whether I would even be able to get in.

I wouldn't use summer schools as any sort of indication as to likelihood of getting an offer from a uni they won't be using the same criteria to pick summer school attendees as they will people to give offers to, not to mention that the number of places available on summer schools may well be different to the number of places available on a course!

Still with those GCSE grades but good a levels what do you think will happen

So I've taken a selection of BEng courses at Bristol for illustration:
https://www.bristol.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/2025/mechanical-engineering/beng-mechanical-engineering/#entry-requirements
https://www.bristol.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/2025/civil-engineering/beng-civil-engineering/#entry-requirements
https://www.bristol.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/2025/electrical-electronic-engineering/beng-electrical-and-electronic-engineering/#entry-requirements

None of them list GCSE entry requirements at all, and in any case your English and maths grades are good! As you look at other courses they'll tell you whether they do set requirements. In terms of whether they use GCSEs as a major way of selecting people to give offers to, I have no insider info to give you but generally unis are more interested in whether you're likely to meet the A-level requirements!

Typically for Engineering, Bristol assesses applications with this weighting - 20% GCSEs and 80% A levels.
So, your A Level predicted grades are far more important than your GCSEs.

If you are still worried, this is exactly the sort of question to ask at an Open Day.
