no u need minimum 3 and you can still get full marks with just 3 , plus if you just add loads of scholars and dont really talk about them then it just makes ur essay clunky and not well thought out - when u add scholars make sure to say whether u agree or disagree with their viewpoint and then explain - this is your evaluation and shows you engaging with the scholars

Any predictions for Iliad questions? I have no idea what to expect but am definitely planning on doing the Iliad 30 marker
We have written out every questions since 2018 iliad and Aeneidfor the aeneid 30 marker i’m predicting another augustus as they haven’t spoken about him since 2018 in any question and the iliad they have never asked a 30 marker on Xenia , Death and mortality and i’m also thinking how a god (eg .. apollo or athene…) are the reason for the success/fall in the epic that’s what i’m thinking ahhhh so nervous what do you think?

i'm doing Odyssey and Aeneid, good luck everyone! i'd recommend doing the paper backwards as it gives more time to focus on the higher mark questions

Those are really good predictions. I haven't looked at it in depth, but I know they've had a lot of character based questions in past (Achilles, Hector) so I feel like it will probably be a theme or a god. I think women has come up a few times so it probably won't be that one either but I'm really not sure.

yall are crazy i so much prefer the iliad. Almost everyone in my classics does. Aeneas is the human version of the colour beige. I live for achilles and patroclus, and hector <3. I really really need the iliad question to be a good one

oh so I can make up the quote??

If you don't know the quote its probably best not trying to use a direct quote but you can always just remember their surname and the general basis of their thoughts and use that instead. I recommend looking at Mary Beard, R.D Williams and Philip Hardie for World of the Hero.

I usually do introduction, if the question asks about a theme E.g xenia, make sure to state what xenia is and its importance in the time. Then I do three paragraphs where I am arguing either for or against, and then I conclude, and make sure to come to a clear conclusion. My teacher recommends that in each paragraph you do 1 big example, 2 minor examples which you can link, one critic per paragraph and 2 context points throughout the whole essay (bc you don’t need to get carried away with examples just do them in detail) though I am unsure what context is in the Odyssey if anyone can help… is it like gender roles?

His job is founding the city that will become Rome 🥱 What’s Hector doing? Dying? Telling Aeneas to leave Troy and save himself? Always yapping bro💀💀

Augustan propaganda notes? What would u say for an essay on it

Reply 58

If that is Aeneas' job he certainly procrastinates it a lot. Hector on the other hand is singlehandedly fending off the Greeks for 10 years, and being the ultimate family man. Hector is better no contest

Guys the only point where I remember Hector in Aeneid is in book 2, where he comes to Aeneas when he was sleeping to tell him Troy is under attack. What other role does he have in the Aeneid, I'm genuinely asking.
