Same! I did the Julius Caesar 30 marker and did 2 counter-argument paragraphs on the instrumental role of Lepidus in the fall of the Second Triumvirate and in Augustus' religious portayal in terms of the creation of his Imperial Image, so glad he came up!

no way lepidus will come up he’s literally irrelevant

Lepidus was an important member of the second triumvirate and if you disagree you probably didn't revise enough as there was so much to write about him and what he did for Rome and Augustus' rise to power, as well as religious leader. Don't discredit Lepidus just because you are afraid to talk about him :/

Couldn't agree more! Our teacher made us read Lepidus: The Tarnished Triumvir by Weigel and it really changed my perception of him from the 'third triumvir' to a pivotal figure in the rise of Augustus and the establishment of his Imperial Image, so glad I could use the scholarship from Weigel in the essay haha! Plz go and read it if you haven't!! 🙂

Oh my gosh, that sounds amazing!! There defo isn't enough representation of Lepidus in the media at the moment. Maybe they should thinking about making a podcast or biopic about him as its sure to be a hit!!

Omg I'd love a Lepidus biopic! I have a few fancasts for him such as Zac Efron, Channing Tatum and Taylor Lautner -- who do you think?

Lepidus would be hunky, I agree. I think Timothee Chalamet could also be a potential as they have a similar bone structure. I'm thinking Channing Tatum would be a really good Augustus as he has that doryphoros build, so Prima Porta🤭 Who would you cast as Mark Antony? I'm so glad there are fellow Lepidus lovers as he really doesn't get enough love!!

Channing would make such a good Augustus now I think about it -- he def has Doryphorus build now u mention it 🙂 I think a genderbent Antony would be a really interesting casting, maybe Jodie Comer or Phoebe Waller Bridge? If I had to go with male casting my Antony choice would deffo be Hugh Jackman, I always perceive Antony as a tall domineering figure in the 2nd Triumvirate, who has a cheeky/sly side, so think Hugh would be perf for the role (I have ever since I saw him in the Greatest Showman). Do you have any other Imperial Image fancasts? I've never discussed this with anyone else, I'm so happy to hear others' opinions! x

I would love to see RDJ as Julius Caesar tbh! I think he displays the strong work ethic that Julius also has, with just the right amount of annoying cockiness to get him stabbed in the back. I love the idea of a genderbent Antony as it would add a new perspective to the trials of the second triumvirate. Would love to know who you would cast as Agrippa and how you would navigate his and Augustus' personal relationship, especially with Agrippa eventually marrying Julia the elder!! xx

I think Meryl Streep would be an amazing gender bent Suetonius! She has the sass already

RDJ as Julius Caesar is such a good thought, his sacrifice in Endgame definitely mirrors the Ides of March. I think a good Agrippa would be The Rock or Arnold Schwarzenegger as they both give off that battle-hardened macho energy as well as being a man of virtus just like Agrippa did.
What about Cleopatra? I think there's so many options for casting her and would love to know your opinions? 🙂

I personally think there are so many different directions that cleopatra could go. My personal fav option would have to be Nicki Minaj as her performance in Anaconda, really moved me in a way that I imagine Cleopatra would. I also think that song shows her ability to handle snakes and would therefore have no problem in performing Cleopatras suicide scene! xx

I've never thought about Cleopatra like that before! And I think a good Livia would be Millie Bobby Brown, I think she is classy but has a side that could portay Livia's cunning and favouring of Tiberius and Drusus! Who would you pick for the poets, I think a perfect Horace would be Morgan Freeman or Michael Caine!

No clue what to predict for Greek theatre feel like most stuff has came up

What did you think about the exam,,?

What was that greek theatre 20 marker .... messenger speeches are you fr?

Reply 99

Greek theatre kiddos!

PAPER WAS AMAZING OMG!!! Redemption arc for paper 1 frfr.

Pentheus vase CHEFS KISS! 10 mark i said quite useful for plot eg pentheus death at hands of maenad, costumes etc but limited for staging - messenger reported his death, no sense of theatron or orchestra where chorus performed, bacchants were more wild with loose hair in play etc

. Messenger speeches 20 mark i had revised so gorgeousss i said bacchae> oedipus for themes (madness + religion) and characterising pentheus as a tragic hero then oedipus for plot eg tells oedipus his father is dead, who his father rlly is, shepherd and swollen foot name meaning etc

30 markers SEXY - did tragedy>comedy 30 marker enjoyable for audience - said tragedy as main due to being enjoyable for all audiences (modern and ancient) eg tragic heroism vs tyrant, religion theme, chorus emotional impact etc then disagreed with comedy for humour for ancient audience + moral messages in parabasis but overall comedy more contextual whereas tragedy enjoyable for all time periods.

10mark passage beautiful simile ‘like a maddened beast’, pathos, tragic irony, situation of incest, miasma with oedipus polluting polis and oikos ahhh LOVED THE PAPER

Lets go paper 3 !!! (Politics)
