Funding as a part time student 80 credits

Hello! I would like to know how my maintenance loan and scholarship will be effected this year after taking a break in semester 2 now (during my 3rd year) due to illness and caring responsibilities over my younger brothers. I completed semester 1 (40 credits - 2 modules) apart from one of the modules which began at semester 1 and is going through semester 2 as well (40 credits big module) my illness, but still have 80 credits worth to study if I will repeat year. So I would be possibly attending both semesters this year. But in the first semester I just have 1 big module which I mentioned above - 40 credits and then on semester 2 I would study 2 modules - 40 credits + the big 40 credits module from semester 1 so it’s 80 credits altogether (3 modules)

My university says that if I will have 80 credits I can’t be enrolled as full time student (I need 90 credits) But my course is registred as full time? So what i will receive in terms of living loan if i will have full time course but do part time hours (80 credits)?

Can anybody from student finance confirm this for me? I would be grateful! Thank you!
Hi nataliacieszynsk,

To clarify, are you going to be attending part time next year for the modules you have not been able to complete this year?

Thanks,
Calum

I’m not sure, they said to me that 80 credits is a part time so I would attend the whole semester 2 definitely and 1 module in semester 1 but altogether I will have 80 credits so I would be considered a part time student I think but my course is registred as full time

And yes I would do modules which I didn’t complete this year
Hi nataliacieszynsk,

You would need to check with your university to see if you will be studying part time or part time on a full time basis before I can advise on what kind of funding will be available

Thanks,
Calum
It will be part time on a full time basis they confirmed it
Hi nataliacieszynsk,

In that case you would just need to apply as a returning student for the new academic year then once your application is approved your university will need to contact us to advise of when you will be in attendance so we can award the correct funding pro rata

Thanks,
Calum
