Civil Service Executive Officer (EO) - (CPIL) Team

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone on here is currently an EO Team Leader within Home Office (Asylum) or is due to start this role soon?

The campaign I applied for was quite generic and broad, I didn't even know I would be a Team Leader until I got the call.

Just wondering if anyone could please provide any insights into this role. Is it very admin and HR focused? Do you actually lead a team or are you more like a POC?

Many thanks 😊

Hey,

I work on asylum and although I don't work IN CPIL, I work WITH them a lot, CPIL is essentially all admin, and usually EO isn't really a team leader role, however I think you do have people under you but It's not really management

Hey,

Many thanks for the reply and giving me a little more insight, that really does help 😀

Another question if at all possible, do you know if it has high targets or is heavily targeted driven?

What's the asylum department/area like to work in?

Asylum does have targets, but they're not really individually enforced, CPIL is mainly back of house and does work like booking in the interviews and interpreters and progressing the cases to the right places- I'm not quite sure how you'd set targets for things like that-

Asylum as a whole is VERY chaotic and you'll find there's changes every other day - it's definitely one of the harder units to work in ( and as such there's a high turnover ) however if you can take abit of stress you'll be fine

Many thanks once again.

How to do find working for the Civil Service in general?

Have you worked there for very long?

Apologies for all the questions - I've worked in the same type of industry for 20 years and although I'm ready for a change/new challenges, I'm also nervous and anxious about jumping ship (so to speak 😄)

Honestly I find the line managers / SEOs to be very grateful and they like to reward with vouchers and such.i enjoy working in the civil service and with the people z
However the constant changes does make it harder ,and I haven't been there too long I've been working there since August 2023.

And no need to apologise, I'm sure you'll smash it !
