Why are they? Is there anything the government can do to stop them?

Aye no surprise that your first thought is forcing them to stop, how reasonable 😅

Companies can choose whether to be public and where to list themselves, all markets are not the same and it depends how the company is put together and wants to achieve. Why would you assume you had any input or that the government should intervene to 'stop them'?

This is a near the same as saying, 'not enough people are investing in government gilts, lets force them'
