Will University of York let me in with A*A*C on an ABB offer?

I have an offer of ABB for psychology at york (an A in psych being absolutely mandatory) and I'm completely on target with A* predictions on every subject except photography which is at a C. I am obviously doing everything I can to change this, however if I do end up with a C in the worst case scenario do you think I'd still be let in if I got A*A* in my other two subjects?

You would be considered a "near miss" candidate, and whether or not you'd be accepted would entirely depend on how many places were left after they'd confirmed the the places of their firm offer-holders who had met their grade requirements, and any insurance offer-holders who had been turned down by their firm choice but met York's offer.

If the course was full after they'd done that, then you'd be out of luck. :frown: However, if they still had some spaces left they'd look to fill those places with "near miss" candidates. Your grade profile would likely rank you towards the very top of that list, so if they're were a position to take any, you'd likely to have a good chance. But no-one can tell you for sure, given that it depends on how every other offer-holder does in their exams.

Did you attend one of the Psychology offer-holder days at York? This topic came up in one of the Q&A sessions towards the end of the day. The speaker (who was one of the three-person team who'd be responsible for that process, called Chelsea I think) basically said they can't make any guarantees, but that they'd look at every application closely - which is really all she could say.

Finally, your ABB offer presumably means you're a contextual candidate. I don't know if York take this into consideration or not during the "near miss" process, but if they do then that can only help you too. Good luck! :crossedf:

Hi there, congrats on your offer!

Unfortunately, I can't advise on how flexible entry requirements are, so instead I recommend getting in touch with the Department of Psychology Admissions team, who will be happy to offer advice - you can contact them via [email protected]
