Hi when should I start preparing for the ucat? One of my friends started ucat prep in year 7. I feel so far behind! I’m in year 11 and still haven’t started. I’m sitting the UCAT next year 2025.

Does anyone have good resources to recommend? For medify and medentry I’m not sure what package to buy.

I hope to get a good score like 2900 plus and at least band 2 SJT

Your friend is either lying or is going to be very bored of ucat prep lol
You need about 6 weeks of prep (I started at the beginning of the summer holidays in yr12 and did the exam mid August)- much more than that is serious overkill. It’s not a test of memorisation but it’s more speed based- there’s a limit to how much you can practice until u get bored.

I used medify but other people in my school used medentry- from what I’ve heard they’re broadly the same so it doesn’t matter to much. I think I got a pass for two months or smth like that which worked great :smile:

Honestly don't worry about starting before mid year 12, I did 2 months of daily practice using Medify over the summer and ended up with a score over 3200. As a previous post has said there's a limit to how much you can practice before your performance will start to decline, so you'll be better off not worrying about it yet and focusing on your exams.

hey in y11 you shouldn’t even think about ucat tbh - i barely even knew what it was then. don’t start rn oryou’ll just burn out ! start like maybe towards the last term of y12? maybe before that though you can just familiarise yourself w the different sections and question styles. all the best <3
