Politics & IR or Social Policy?

Hi,
I originally applied for politics and IR. My top choice was Bristol but instead they have given me the option to do social policy however still not sure if they will give an offer for it as I know it’s not guaranteed. I don’t know if this was based more on my personal statement seeming better suited to that or just that being the only course Bristol have spaces. Social policy does seem interesting but I’ve not heard much about it - does it still offer the same career prospects as politics and IR? I have also been offered a place to study Politics and International Relations at Uni of Nottingham. Although I wasn’t sure about the campus, I was impressed by the course and know it is a good uni. Does anybody know what social policy at Bristol is like in comparison? I’m mostly concerned about its reputation in career prospects after as not sure if it is mostly community based jobs rather than civil service or foreign office or jobs in journalism which I know politics & IR can lead to. I don’t know if a social policy course is worth it just to go to my top choice uni.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated, thanks

hi I’m now at uni of nottingham doing PIR. I realised I didn’t want to do social policy, it was just because I was really set on going to Bristol. now I’m at notts and loving it and the course - just PIR was what I wanted to do originally and is broader as a degree. I feel like it gives me a lot more options career wise and opportunity to tailor it to my interests through the module options. It definitely is a hard decision but you’ll end up where you’re supposed to in the end! let me know if you have any more questions

Hi, I've also been offered the same option Social Poicy as opposed to PIR at Bristol. What did you decide to do? I'm concerned the course is too defined whereas the module options at Uni of Manchester, my second choice are very interesting and as a Uni I think has an equally as good reputation.
