I'm hoping to go to Newcastle Uni in sept 2024 and was wondering if there were any accommodations anyone really recommends. I'm thinking of Newgate court but I don't know much about it, I'm looking for somewhere that's good for social things.

I was looking at it as well but I want to know if you dont get the grades if you get your deposit back. does anyone know?!?!?!
Newgate Court is one of our managed partnership accommodations, as such the payment methods differ from University-owned. A £250 advanced rent payment is required upon acceptance of a room at Newgate Court, which gets deducted from the first rent payment. Additionally, a guarantor is required.
However, applicants who reserve a room through our Advanced Booking option won’t be emailed a contract until after the 15th August 2024 once their place at Newcastle is confirmed. They will then have two days to accept this contract online.
From the 16th August 2024, and once places are confirmed, we will start processing applications submitted via the traditional application route, where applicants express an interest in up to three accommodation options. Once applicants have been assigned accommodation, those offered Newgate Court will be emailed and told they have three days to action the offer.
Following acceptance of contracts, applicants will receive a follow up email directly from Unite Students (the provider of Newgate Court). It will be at this stage that the advanced rent payment and details of a guarantor will be asked for.
Please note that we would advise anyone applying directly through Unite Students to ask them about their processes and policies because they will be different.

If you put them as firm, you are guaranteed accomodation, but you don't pay anything until after results day. If you secure your grades they then send you your contract for the accomadation you have picked and you send it back within 2 days, then pay when it is due.
Dd favourite accomodation were Park view, Kensington Terrace and Newgate Court. She picked Kensington Terrace in the end, decided to be on campus, and slightly bigger rooms, and bigger houses, still a lot of people in the 10 houses , but not as big or vast as Park view, although to be honest all choices look ok/nice

oops too late now. tbd still happy with my choices
Yes I did advanced booking. I logged on and noticed some other places were being in the process of being added so I kept refreshing and eventually park view was added - but like 1 hour 20 mins later. So it took a while

I saw on another thread that they add rooms once a week at a random time so I just struck lucky at the time I logged in on that occasion. I’d checked every day at various times of day. It was quite time consuming. I was only giving it one last try then going to do the other system.
Did you choose the advanced booking option? If so, when did you log on to apply. Whenever I look Park view is never on there.
Daughter did advanced booking, but was advised by others they tried to get Park View and were trying for over 4 weeks and still nothing. Was advised by others being as only 3 weeks left to pick other choices as well, so she picked 4 Park View, Kensington Terrace, Park Terrace and Newgate Courtand and decided to take whatever came up first. She was lucky and Kensington Terrace came up, so she got that one. Only same sex available, not mixed but she still selected it. Try switching from mixed to same sex choice, as different ones come up when you do that. Depends if you are bothered about mixed or not Think hers came up on a Monday around lunchtime. The uni do hold back 30% of the accommodations for everyone that has picked the three choice option though

Sorry I should have made it clearer, she decided to pick 4 accommodations that she liked best, and would be happy staying at, so which ever of the 4 came up first, on the advanced booking option, she was going to select the first one that came up, Kensington Terrace did, which she picked .as she could only select one. Doing advanced booking you are guaranteed the one you pick, but you have to constantly look at portal to see which accommodations have come up, and they go quick, but if you have a few that you like, you have more chance of one of them coming up.
You can select 3 choices and then get told in August which one you get (although not guaranteed them, even if you pick them) and could be allocated somewhere different anyway. I am on a Facebook parents group for Newcastle, and told by parents of last years intake, that when their kids picked the 3 choice option, some of them still didn't get any of the 3 choices they picked, and were allocated somewhere completely different anyway.
You cannot pick the three choice option and still do the advanced booking option to, you have to do one or the other.
If you want to do the advanced booking option to pick one only, just be open minded and try to have a few options you would be happy with, as it's a lottery what comes up, and they don't all come up at once
