Banned from Sainsbury’s Permanently

Stole from Sainsbury’s (stupid, I know, and all over like £3) and got caught and given a form to say I am banned permanently from all stores. Fair enough. I’ve been really struggling financially but that is another issue. Took the form and they wrote down my name and have my face on CCTV. If I go into a different Sainsbury’s that is near-ish after a couple of months, how likely is it that I get caught? Should I just avoid all the ones in the area now? I usually do my shop in another Sainsbury’s and I just want to know if I can’t go back realistically.

See this Freedom of Information request where the Sainsbury’s Privacy Team say, "We do not use facial recognition technology and have absolutely no intention of doing so." That response is from June 2022.

So unless a human recognises you (because they've moved from the store you stole from to the store you now want to visit), then the chances of you been "spotted" in another store are almost zero.
The short answer is you'll never know, staff move and take shifts all over the place, so the first you might find out is when you're told to leave. I work in retail and tend to remember the faces of the people who get caught, I also work in a different stores.
