Travel to campus from Uni of Sheffield Ranmoor/Endcliffe accommodation

Hi,

I am looking at accommodation at the Uni of Sheffield but I am a bit worried about the travel from the Ranmoor/Endcliffe sites to campus. I will be spending most of my on-campus time at the diamond which is about as far from Ranmoor/Endcliffe as you can. How do most students get to campus each day? It seems like a long way to walk, but getting the bus every day will become quite expensive. Am I right in saying its £1.50 for a single? or is there a better option like a season ticket?

I am also looking at city accommodation since its much closer to the diamond but the options are very limited - the only en suite option is very expensive in comparison to en suite at ranmoor/endcliffe and I'd rather not share a bathroom.

Thanks!

I wouldn't pick accomm based on this - the walk is like 17 mins from endcliffe to the SU, probs around 23 mins to the diamond? You get used to it within the first week. I'd recommend endcliffe. If you are really worried abt the walk I wouldnt pick ranmoor and i would probably pick somewhere on the east side of endcliffe (although we are talking a minute different max!) Everyone walks down the bottom way past the Sheffield girls private school and it is a very quick route. The bus will get very expensive and I only really use it to get into the city on a night out or in emergencies. City accomm is mainly international and you may get lonely - and yes it is quite a lot more expensive! Still cheaper than some other unis of course.

Thank you for your reply, it was really helpful! Google maps, websites, etc had said it was a much longer walk (like 40 mins) which is why I was worried but 20 mins is much more manageable. I'll definitely choose ranmoor/endcliffe then!))

Thats okay! Its a bit strange - just remember all the walkways aren't necessarily on google maps !! On here it says 31 mins, you will probably walk quicker than that - but most people will leave at half past for a lecture nevertheless. You may end up going along the big main road (Whitham road) sometimes as thats where Morrisons, tesco, sainsburys etc are so if you need to shop on the way home it may take a little bit longer, but theres a coop on the route here!
