Deleting social media same time as an ex

I have been seeing this guy I met online for 4.5 months consistently until recent. He got out of a 1.5 years relationship a week before we met and he was open about it from the very start saying he stays on friendly terms with his ex due to mutual work place. I knew they were also in almost daily contact but when I asked about whether there was any chance of them two getting back together he kept reassuring me there wasn't. After 4.5 months he randomly decided to cut ties with me due to "feeling down and not wanting to speak to anyone." This was around a month ago and we haven't spoken since. Recently I noticed he deleted all his social media and his ex literally did the same thing one day after him. I'm pretty sure this isn't a coincidence? Could they perhaps be trying to work things out and I was just a rebound? I'm pretty upset as I told him multiple times to please be honest and that I don't wanna be a rebound... Has anyone had a similar experience?

It does seem a little bit suspicious but like you said he has a common workplace with his ex so he probably just deleted them for mental health reasons, told his ex about it and his ex was convinced to delete their social medias.
