Hi, I just got rejected from Imperial for one of the courses under the ESE Department on the basis that I don't have a strong Mathematics background. It's the Geo-energy with Data Science and Machine Learning course, so it's heavy on Maths of course (aside from the fact that it's ICL). I half expected the rejection because I come from pure geology background and the last time I took a formal Maths course was during pre-university. I was invited for an interview and granted, I didn't do very well for the technical question (It was a differentiation question). I thought I had a good grasp of the topic after spending the past week brushing up on it.
So long story short, I got the rejection email 2 days after the interview. I did apply to other grad schools and have gotten offers to some. But I suppose the course at ICL was my first choice and the only reason I jumped into applying for an MSc. I tried not to get my hopes too high or I'll be devastated like I am now but I think I got too attached during the whole application process and now I'm considering of reapplying again when applications open this September for the 2025 intake. I feel like I could use the time to brush up on my maths skills while gaining some work experience, and reapply earlier next time around (I sent my application in late January, the final day of the first round application).
So I wanted to ask anyone here with a similar experience or whatsoever on your thoughts of reapplying?
