can i take a gap year before my medicine degree but at the same timeline as my peers? i would like to do it with everyone else as my school has a really good uni careers leader and would love to go through the process with her helping along the way.

Hi there,
With working for a gap year company I can provide you a few insights here. There are many programmes that offer gap years for more than just a single year. It might be that you do a gap year and then do another one in order to have the experience of working with your peers.
I ended up taking 3 gap years when I took my first one, so if you find the right place there isn't a limit on this.
You wouldn't be able to study medicine alongside taking a gap year though, in case this is what you were asking!
