Gcse psychology or history

Hi everyone,

I’m really struggling to pick between GCSE History (Edexcel) and Psychology (AQA). I’ve always been great at history but I genuinely find it soo boring. Having looked at the content, psychology seems so interesting but I’m not sure I’ll be good at it. I’m good at both STEM subjects and writing so that won’t be an issue. What does everyone recommend, thankss.

Hey, I do Edexcel GCSE History and I love the content as I find it so interesting, but timing and writing exam-style questions is tough, as I know people who got Grade 9 in their Key stage 3 assessments but now get grade 2 or 3 max 5. I don't know psychology but I know it has maths (statistics), some science and research methods. Let me know what history edexcel topics you're doing. Maybe we have some in common!

Hi - do what you like! Pick psychology if you find that interesting as you can change if you dont find it interesting in the first few weeks 🙂 good luck!

Yeah I think I might do that, we have a two week window so I’ll definitely have time to think about it!

I would say do the one you enjoy more - I've not looked at the psychology spec so idk what's in it, but if your good at sciences and writing you shld be alright.
also, the one you are more interested in is the one you'll pay more attention too so you will do better in that one. if you do history you will have to force yourself to do the work, probably procrastinate it (ik I would) and not do as well especially as history has A LOT of content

hope this helps

I do the USA and it is a good unit definitely. Talk to your teachers about the subjects, look at the content, past papers, your future keep your options open.

Hey!!
I do AQA psychology and its so interesting!! its alot of content, but you can definitley handle it. i know quite a few people who regret taking History because its boring apparently, i dont take it but i definitely dont regret taking psychology, its not a GCSE you see often, which makes sixth forms more interested in you, especially if you get a good grade.

good luck, hope this helps xx
