Proof of marital status student finance application.

What can I use to proof my parents’ marital status (separated)? They are married but live in different addresses. I’m thinking of using a tenancy agreement but not too sure, please help.

Hi there,

I would advise you get your sponsor to complete the Marital Status Declaration form and this form can be found on the Gov.UK website. Does your sponsor get a 25% single person occupancy discount on their council tax bill?

No he doesn’t have 25% single person occupancy discount on the council tax bill so I sent them 25% student discount instead but it got rejected. They are now requesting for a tenancy agreement and any other two utility bills in his name only but I can’t send those in as I’ve got my name on them as well . What should I do now please ?

Hi there,

I would still advise to send the tenancy and 2 utility bills. Send a cover letter with it just to confirm that your name is also on them as you help out with the costs.
