Anyone who is currently in Psych or planning to do Psych:

I really wanted to do GP but am concerned that ANPs/PAs are having a huge impact on future prospects for GPs. Your thoughts?

Assuming you mean physicians associates and not the consultant job plan?

Do you think the PAs issue wouldn't apply following specialist training in psy, because they are there already!

You're obviously bright, but GP and psychiatrist are not what someone would automatically coin flip on, are there further reasons you want to be a psychiatrist? Did you want to be a GP that much if the current working situation puts you off already? There is a huge demand for GPs, ANPs/PAs are a plaster as a result of this. Although there is a risk with specific governments to make the higher qualified people responsible for the less trained "do-ers" so you end up carrying all the risk for people not in the room.

Either way you're going to be in short supply so whatever working arrangements you want are likely to be granted depending on the context, ANPs/PAs wont eradicate you
