Edinburgh Vet Med reserve list 2024

I was just wondering if anyone else had been put on the edinburgh reserve list? Or if anyone knew anything about it like how many others are put on it?

I was put on it as well, (RUK) I emailed them to ask them about the reserve list and they said:
“In regards to your question about the reserve list – only a select number of candidates are placed on the reserve list following interview. The reserve list is for candidates who performed well at interview but who unfortunately, due to very high competition for our Veterinary Medicine programme, were slightly less competitive than other applicants. For information, it’s also important to highlight that the reserve list isn't ranked and does change considerably over the next few months. Many applicants become ineligible to remain on the list if they accept a place at another vet school. Additionally, factors such as the acceptance rate of candidates we've offered places to, as well as exam results in August and candidates meeting offer conditions, heavily impact the availability of places. Rest assured, we'll keep you informed as soon as possible regarding any updates.”
Sorry it’s a bit long winded but that pretty much sums it up - I personally am waiting on Liverpool to tell me if my offer is deferred so I’ll wait until just before 6th June to accept my offers just in case one comes through from Edinburgh,

No worries! If you do ever have a specific question to ask them they did reply super quickly and seemed very helpful :smile:

Thats good to hear. If I don’t get an offer a gap year is sounding pretty fab at least lol

Haha yeah, I kinda have mixed feelings about taking a gap year but I think it does give you more confidence going to uni. I think if you don’t firm any others on ucas you’ll have a bigger chance of getting an offer from Edinburgh at least cos a lot have people will have pulled out or firmed others hopefully x

I am on the reserve list and I know of another two from my course that are on it. Fingers crossed for us all 🤞

I know my friend who went into dentistry said last year there was a reserve list for a uni in england and I think he said 32 of the people on it got given offers after results came out. Just wish there were more spaces for us lol

I got an offer from them during my advanced higher exams so I think late April early may, so for me it was worth the wait just depends what you prefer :smile:

Hiii I’m also on the reserve list and I emailed them and they said accepting another school does NOT affect your right to remain on the reserve list.

They might’ve changed it but I was told last year if you accepted any other offers you would be removed from the reserve list and only those who haven’t accepted any other offers would be considered.

Hi Thank you this was very helpful, im still unsure what to do as i have 1 offer from Nottingham so don't know if I should just accept.
