Hello there! Im Dia and new to tsr, and thanks for coincidentally coming across another gyg journey/journal/update thing.. whatever you call it-
So I'm doing my GCSES in 2025.. but I got my year 10 mock exams/ppes the first week after easter half yerm.. yikes.
It's my first time ever doing these: sitting in rows in silence with the weird examiner voice in the back saying 'YOU MAY START' so Im kinda nervous..
Idk if this is in the right place, but if there's any other way to spread this around pls help and add this discussion onto other threads it would be highly appreciated ^^
So my mocks are 6 days from when I posted this, and I made a silly decision of procastinating.. :sobs: Anyway, I'll get straight to the point now.. here are my options!
SCIENCE;
BIOLOGY
CHEMISTRY
PHYSICS ( These mocks will let our teachers decide whether we do combined or triple)
MATHS HIGHER
ENGLISH
FRENCH
GEOGRAPHY
HISTORY
I wasn't the best at the start of year 10 because I always got below 50% in my tests and I didn't concentrate, but I realised my mistakes and really want to make a change before my gcses. Im aiming for 8s and 9s in all my subjects (9-9-9 or 9-9-8 In science) so Its better late than never. The only problem is I don't know how to stop procastinating or I cannot find any motivation.
To do triple science I need grade 6 or above so that's my top priority right now since those are my only classes that are going to change since we will be in sets.
My predicted grades at the moment: (based on topic assessments in lessons)
Biology - 6
Chemistry - 5
Physics - 6
Maths - 6
French - 5
Geography - 5
History - 7
English Language - 7
English Literature - 7
I should have done more revision, but I've made a resolution that after these mocks I'm going to start studying efficiently and raise those grades up!
I'll update this now and then even in y11 too ^^ stay tuned for a followup-- Anyone in year 10 also doing mocks good luck!
P.S Any useful tips for any of these subjects would be so helpful

Hey! Welcome to gyg
I'm in y11 and doing my GCSEs in a few days (pls save me) and I assure you that you'll probably be able to achieve all those 8s and 9s for the actual exam!! (I literally went from 5s-7s in y9 to getting 8s-9s, in y11 - almost all 9s!! Therefore your 8s + 9s will be achievable)

Some tips...
English lang/lit - practice papers to increase writing speed
Sciences - make summaries of notes (like rewriting in your own words) - I like to make summaries of the specification
Mathematics - to be fair, you can't really do much except past papers so keep doing them!!

I wish you the best and good luck!
