Aldi Application, (seeking advice and info)

I applied for the Aldi retail management level 3 apprenticeship four months ago, and after hearing not much from the recruiting department or hiring manager for a while they contacted me and informed me that the role I applied for turned out no longer available and suggested that I look at my portal with them on a regular schedule, which I did, and it said 'we're keeping your application on file until a suitable position is available'. Could someone please*let me know what will happen next because my application was successful and I attended an interview which I passed and I also attended an experience-day*for which I had high hopes of receiving a start date and time, but my portal says otherwise now.
