Strathclyde uni accommodation

Hi, I’m starting my studies of Computer Science at Strathclyde Uni in September. I want to apply for accommodation on April 16th but I was wondering if applications for accommodation are done on a first come first serve basis?

I am waiting for it to open up aswell on the 16th (studying computing science aswell lol), I think it may be relativley similar to that? but I also think they may choose to prioritise those who live far out and may require the accomodation more - thats just a guess though.

Oh cool, I’ll see you in September then! I believe there’s a certain distance you have to be from the uni to qualify. I was planning on applying on the 16th anyway but I was wondering if i could spend a little longer thinking about it without risking not getting a space

I reckon we have some leeway in terms of applying, probs best to get it done as soon as we can though. I am 3 or 4ish hours out from Glasgow so I reckon I live far enough away - Im going apply on the 16th when it opens. Have you tried to talking to Strathclyde via their help services?

No I haven’t I’ll try that soon, thank you!
Hey both! If you think you might like to stay in halls then yes I'd say go ahead and apply when applications open 🙂 If you're allocated a space then we wouldn't be asking you for any deposit payments or anything until later down the line - so you're not 'locked' in to anything just by applying if that makes sense.

We do prioritise our applicants coming from outwith the local area as they may not be able to commute as easily. For any questions you can get in touch with [email protected].

good to know! Just an extra enquirey, aside from distance - is priority given to those who have a unconditional offer - or are conditional and unconditional given equal chance for recieving a place?

Hello! No there's no priority based on unconditional/conditionals - everyone is considered equally with regards to the status of their applications 🙂

You shouldn't have any issues getting accomodation, when my sister was studying here in 2022 the uni was massively undersubscribed for accomodation and had been for the last 3 years cos most students are local and commute onto campus. So if you really want a particular type of accomodation (or need special accomodation due to disability) then it doesn't do any harm to get an application in early but if its a bit late don't sweat it.
