Falmouth University or University for the Creative Arts for Animation?

I’ve applied for BA animation with foundation year for both unis and I’m making my last choice between Falmouth University(Penryn Campus) and University for the Creative Arts(Farnham). I’m an International student so I’m not able to visit the unis and the sources online are limited. I will be really happy if someone can give me some advice (e.g. about the course at the uni, the accommodations and the location). Thanks so much!

As you're travelling from abroad, Farnham is likely to be far more convenient for airports etc. It's close to London and is in a generally fairly wealthy area.

In comparison Falmouth is a unique and special place with a fabulously creative vibe but pretty small and extremely isolated from almost every other major city in England (5+ hours travel time from London for example, 4 hours to Bristol). Also be aware that a significant proportion of the university owned accommodation in Falmouth is in shared bedrooms.

Hello!

I am not a student at any of the universities you mentioned however I am an International student in my second year for a BA in Animation and Games at Arts University Plymouth. Similar to your case, I couldn't visit the university beforehand, so I know any information about any university would have been super helpful at the time for me.

As an international student at AUP, I have found solid support from my university regarding settling down and beginning my studies in a foreign land. The animation studio is big with all the latest programs installed on the best Alienware PCs. The lectures are easy to understand and are taught by industry experts and I am steadily growing my network in the industry already. We have regular guest lectures from industry veterans and go on trips to animation conventions. This may be similar at the universities that you're interested in, I'm sure their Student Recruitment team or Student Ambassadors would be happy to answer any questions that you have!

As for the dorms, most of them are single-bed ensuite style where you can have total privacy. The kitchen is shared with only up to 3 other flatmates. But if you prefer a shared house or studio-style apartments, then those are available all around Plymouth, and many other cities too!

A handy link for such information would be:

The biggest charm of AUP in my eyes is its prime location. Within walking distance of the campus, you find yourself in the city centre which includes a mall, all the diverse food restaurants, garment stores and more. The dorms are in close vicinity to the campus as well. You could search on Google Maps to see what the location is like for the universities that you are interested in, they may even have video content from a student's perspective.

Please let me know if this intrigues you and if you have more questions.
