The Student Room Group

Central film school or university of york for MA filmmaking

I have recieved unconditional offers from both the institutions, i just want to know which is best for a global exposure and which can provide better employment opportunities and networking. I am really confused about which to choose, I'm an international student.

what do you think are the pros and cons of each?

Are these the only courses you've applied to? They're very different

Hello, yes they have pros and cons

York

Pros: it's a russel group institution, has a seperate department for filmmaking and also teaches tv production

It has various facilities, including studios, theatre and post production room, also it's a diverse University, can be helpful for networking

Cons- it is in york, which is a laid back town or i don't know for sure, far away from London which is the main hub.

I didn't got any review previously if it is good or not, many prestigious universities turn out to be bad and I don't know if there's any internship opportunities in york.

The fees is expensive.

Central film school

Pros- its cheaper than york.
Small privete institution based in central london

It'll teach me more practical aspects of filmmaking

The studio facility is also nice

I can get more connections in london

Cons

Though it's a private school, so it can be doubtful as it had bad reviews from some people

It's a mediocre school and not highly known

I dont know if they can promise me a better career opportunity

And london is hella expensive.

And yes, i also applied to

University of sussex

University of salford

University of east london

And i haven't recieved an offer from

Kingston University

And University of Greenwich

Hi, I'm delighted to hear you've received two unconditional offers!

York may be the smaller city, but there are still plenty of opportunities in Yorkshire. ITV is based in Leeds - a short train or car journey away - and there are plenty of media, marketing and production companies based around Yorkshire.

I'd also recommend reading about our facilities and the fantastic events held with industry professionals on our website. You might also like to hear from our students.

Why didn't you even consider or apply to Hertfordshire? It's the only course in the UK, aside from the NFTS, to win a Student Academy Award for the work completed on the MA course.
