How can i achieve grade 7/8 as a year 10 student

I am currently a year 10, and i’m constantly achieving grade 5 and 6’s in my lessons, such as english, maths, science. and i’ve been wanting to know how i will bump that up to a 7.. it doesn’t take me long to get my head around concepts, however applying it to a test i struggle with . hence why i get 5 and 6’s. can someone help? any tips.

Hello! I was in the same boat as you, i didn't know how to apply to exam questions. I would highly suggest doing questions by topic on PMT because they help a lot, and LEARN FROM THE MARK SCHEME.
Good luck 🙂

but hand on heart, if u acc start now, you can even achieve 8s and 9s. i have tons of friends who went from 5s and 6s and came out w 8s and 9s. you're on the right track. besides being at 5s and 6s means tht u just need application for the most part.

feel free to reach out 4 any more detailed help or wtvr but ik for bsure these methods work. but also try n experiment w diff methods of revising. but yaaaa goodluck!!! an't wait 4 u to get those 7s, 8s, and 9s.

also make sure ur doing maths every single day. maths skills r built up gradually. u can even do corbett maths 5 a day if u want.

i'm so sorryyy i don't take computer science or re. but ik my friend is on straight 8s and 9s and i'll ask her more abt what she does later n get back to u in more depth (hopefully) but im pretty sure she makes mindmaps and flashcards. ik lots of ppl make flashcards on key quotes. tiktok has some good rs adivce. USE bibim7 on tiktok for study advice, she is an actual lifesaver. also my friend takes computer science i'll ask her sometime today or tomorrow

ALSo biggest tip, don't be disheartened if u still achieve 5s and 6s in this mock bc u did start a little bit late, but it's totally fine bc at least you're more prepared for ur next set of mocks in year 11. and as long as u consistently revise, put in the effort, and have the mindset that you're going to achieve, there's no reason that u won't.

if it makes u feel a little bit better, i revised a week before my mocks and didn't start exam prep until like 3 days before, and achieved 7/8 and 9s. it is not impossible. be strategic w ur time

ANYWAY, even if u finish a huge chunck of ur resources within these next 3 weeks and still acheive 5s and 6s, it's fine bc it just means next mock u can look through them and acc put them to use. don't worry too much. these mocks don't define u and they're just a little setting point to sort of see where ur at. use it to ur advantage tho, try n take the mocks home so u can see where to improve, or get the teachers to photocopy them if tht's not possible. make sure u know what papers u have like for science we only did paper 1 mocks and then paper 2 in january of year 11. so make sure ur not revising the wrong content. if ur able to take ur mocks home, focus on ur weaknesses!!

and ignore anyone who says ur only gonna be able to progress to 7s and 8s. u can absolutely get a clean sweep of 9s. u have llike 400 or so days til gcses. that is MORE than enough time. i managed to turn some 6s round into 8s and 9s for my feb mocks with little revision. obviously, make sure u revise.

sorry i went of on a tangenttttt lmk if u need anything else and GOODLUCK!!

do exam questions as exams recycle the content and some exams have same questions. use Seneca, get a tutor if u can, do active recall and watch YouTube videos. for English if u want grade 9 watch mr bruff, mr salles, first rate tutors etc and there are tons of quizlets for English lit analysis on macbeth on acts and they got me grade 9

For science, plss watch freesciencelessons on YT. He has helped many ppl with 5-6 in science, and made their grades an 8-9. Just go to one of his most watched videos, scroll through the comments and you'll be amazed 🤩 bc the truth is, a 1 hour science lesson is taught by him in around 4 mins.
For comp sci, I think just go to BBC Bitesize and see what they have, go to Replit bc you can code python there, and go on Seneca, they have a lot of GCSE courses.
For RS, go to Seneca and BBC Bitesize.

Hope this helps 🙂
