How do you become a photographer

Hello,

Im currently a 3rd year English & Classical studies student . In my free time I’m very artistic taking part in things like writing , photography, modelling etc over time photography speaks to me more and I was thinking of doing it professionally however I don’t know where to begin from , I don’t have a degree and I don’t know what requirements I would need to have? Also I don’t actually have a professional portfolio and most my photos are phone photos

You don't need any formal certificates or qualifications to become a professional photographer - but it is useful to take a course or study which may help with this path; If you plan to become a photographer in the industry, it isn't required to have any degrees.
You could always start with entering photography competitions in your hometown, country, university, etc... or perhaps go on volunteer positions in photography for events and societies (e.g. weddings) You could even achieve awards or earn a living from this route!

Goodluck and I wish you the best!
