Durham or Warwick for English lit

Hi, I have an offer from Durham but as the grades are so high (A*AA) I am considering reapplying for Warwick next year as I don’t know if I’d like Bristol (insurance)? Can someone please tell me if Warwick is a nice uni as I’ve heard mixed things? Thanks

Hello, I'm a little off topic, but we have similarities. Just like you, I achieved a higher grades than predicted. And now I have an important question, either go to Exeter University now or next year go to an even better university, perhaps KCL, but if not there, then to Bristol. As I understand it, you decided that you want to skip a year and go to a better university rather than go to a slightly worse one. If you have decided so, is it not difficult for you to tell me why you decided to wait a year to go to a better university?

Hi, so what I said before was a bit confusing. I am currently in yr13 and want to go to Durham but the grades are very high and I am worried that I might not get them. I was just asking if Warwick would be a good option if I couldn’t go to Durham! Sorry to confuse!

For you, I would say if you have better achieved grades and want to go to a higher ranked uni, do it. As nice as Exeter is there is a certain stereotype around it and the uni does not have the same kudos that Bristol or KCL does, these ones are ranked better for employers too. Saying that, Exeter is a campus and Bristol is a city so it’s important to know which one would be best for you. If you think you would be happy at Exeter stay with Exeter because: happy = better degree result. But if not, I would say Bristol or KCL. Hope this helps!

Which course do you prefer?
Look at the option units in all years of each course and think carefully about which ones you would actually choose if you went there.

It isnt 'the University' that you study every day for three years, its the course. And if you dont actually enjoy that study, its going to be a very miserable three years, regardless of the fancy reputation of the University you are at.

And A level grade requirements do not tell you anything about the 'quality' of any degree - however you imagine you could measure that - and it certainly wont guarantee that you will like that course or Uni any more than any other.
