How do I stay focused on studying!

Hi there,
I’m revising for my exams and I’m finding it so hard just to concentrate!
Is anyone finding this?
It’s not that my work is too hard or I’m disinterested it’s just that I loosen focus so easily.
Anyone got any tips?

Best wishes

Personally, when I’ve found I struggle to concentrate if my study session is too long. Your brain can’t stay focused for more than 90 minutes straight so your sessions shouldn’t be longer than this! Have at least a little break in between- have a chat with your family/friends or read a chapter of a book.

Another big concentration killer for me is the way I start my day- if I go to my phone first thing and get a dopamine hit from it it’s hard to focus on studying, so make sure not to do this. This might even be a good time to try cutting down on those dopamine sources- social media/ watching loads of Netflix, and using slower media when relaxing; watching a film not a show, reading a book rather than social media, etc.

I hope these tips which help me, help you too!

Hi there,

One big thing that would help me focus is organising my time into some form of timetable to help me study. I'd normally spend approximately 15 minutes on a subject, giving that days work a refresh in my mind. This would give me time to work on the subjects that I really need to, by doing smaller chunks of time, and at the same time I'm not then putting undue pressure on myself to do lots of studying. Little and often was more my approach - then you can still enjoy your evenings and get that much needed downtime.

I hope this bit of advice helps and that you find focusing easier in the future.
