BTEC Business Q&A

Hi everyone!

I studied BTEC Business at GCSE and also did an extended level 3 Business diploma at college so if anyone has any questions about either I'd be happy to help!

Good luck with all your exams and course work

hey bud few questions since im planning to do this
hopefully in september 24

1) How hard actually is it im getting high 6s in year 11 (predicted) with pretty much zero revision in Business studies GCSE (AQA) would it be of any advantage? I need a DDD or D*DD so i can go to an american UNI (DDD would give me a GPA of around or just under 4.0/4.0 unweighted)! How hard is it to get distinctions and how much is the workload of assignments
also when do u get ur predicted score for UNI and
would my course be VASTLY different since im planning to do Business and finance instead of just business? Or would it be a small difference?

BASICALLY I NEED ATLEAST DDD IF NOT D*DD AND IDK HOW HARD ITS GONNA BE
my biggest strengths right now at GCSE are :
-Business studies
-english (especially lit)
-History
-Science

comp sci too but moreso the theory work.

weaknesses :
Maths but only maths above like Grade5 or 6 so Grade 6-9 or especially grade 7+ maths (GCSE Edexcel is where i begin to struggle) from (5-1) or so im fine tbh.

Would I be able to get DDD and how much effort from 1-10 would i generally be putting in considering im decent at business studies
Hiya, I hope you're well!

I did just business for the grade 3 diploma not business and finance and I'm not sure how different they are, I will try to answer your questions based off the course I did but bare in mind, there will be some differences and it may differ from college to college too.

I think how hard it is depends on a lot of factors but for me it was my preferred style of learning and assessment as it was more course work than exam. I managed to achieve distinctions often as I found the teachers very useful and if you put the work in, it's achievable.

I am also not the strongest at maths and I managed as we only had a few modules involving it, but for a business and finance course, I would assume there would be more focus on maths. I would recommend seeing if the college you want to go to has any break down of what the modules and assessment are to help you make your decision.

I can't really put a number on how much effort you'd have to put in as it really depends but I found that I had to work hard but I enjoyed the work I was doing and we did a range of different modules that kept it enjoyable.

I hope this helps

Since the QCF came in 2015, I will have done that one.
