Is drawing my muslim friend haram/offensive?

My friends birthday is coming up and I want to draw her something or herself, but I heard in Islam that its haram to draw a persons face as its imitating the creations of Allah. I will cover her hair and body of course, But Is it haram/offensive? I don't want to disrespect her religion so Im thinking about whether to scrap the idea or if its okay.

It's true that it is not allowed...but maybe leave out the facial features? Even if you decide to draw it, she won't find it offensive tho as you yourself ain't muslim.
