Is anyone else not interested in freshers/partying?

Im starting at Edge hill Uni in October 2024, and want to know whether any other people have the same disinterest as me? Im a very introverted person, hence why i dont like going out and stuff! Id much rather stay in and play on my pc or read a good book!

Haha that's fair!! 😂 I think the only thing that attracts me to the city is modernity. I'm a sucker for minimalism and massive glass skyscrapers 😭😭 and the lights!! I love nature....from afar 🤧 I can't deal with insects and uncleanliness. However I hate big crowds, drama and loud noises... I'm such a contradiction haha

Ya, that or there are other fun activities such as punting, going on tours, board games.

I've been living in a village all my life too! 😭 But because of that, I really want to experience something different. But that's totally fair! 😭 Idk how I'd feel about the city centre... Maybe the corner of the city would be better...lol
That's valid tho, I don't think I'll be joining the Freshers activities (unless it's joining clubs and societies) 😭 anything more crazy, and I'm out of there haha

Same!! I really hope I'll make good friends because it'd be sad to have no one during uni 😭
I have conditional offers from Durham and Cambridge, but I'm from Ireland so we'll have to see.
🤣 I most likely won't make my offer for camb so probably Durham, or more likely, a uni in Ireland. Do you have an unconditional from edge hill?

Wow those are both amazing unis! Well done ! I've got a conditional for edgehill! I had conditionals for more prestigious unis like Lancaster , but i think edgehill is a much better fit for me (It's smaller and a lot closer to home) ☺️

Thanks so much! I don't feel like I deserve it-- especially with my current grades 😭 (hence why I may not make my offer)

That's valid!! The economy is in shambles right now, living closer to home can help a lot!
I may end up attending my local uni too if it comes to it 😁 😭 everything's just so expensive nowadays

Hi @ladygoo2444,

Just to give some info on freshers and prevent you from getting scammed.

Edge Hill do there own freshers wristband which pays for the freshers week tickets there are different levels bronze to normally black which come with extra's such as a t-shirt, mug, hoodie etc.

Most the time people buy through Fatsoma in which I would say they are usually a scam and if you are wanting to go into Liverpool I would more recommend after being at uni for a couple of weeks as most people if not all just go to the one's held at uni as you don't need to get a train there and/or one back if you stay in Liverpool till after 6am or get a taxi back however this can be expensive if you don't have many people to split it with.

On the note of not liking to drink there are lots of different events put on during the week by the Campus Connectors including crafts and quiz's, day trips out and much more which are a great opportunity of meeting friends or to have some activities to do besides drinking.

There is also the option to join a society and/or a sports team whether that is the professional one for you to compete or one just for fun. These are a great opportunity to meet new people.

Hope that helped/gave a bit of reassurance.

Let me know if you have any questions about student life at Edge Hill and I can try and answer them!
