I'm going to aru in 2024 and the art building is so gorgeous. There's also a society for anyone on any of the art courses, so the community is great. It's also in cambridge which is a great student city.

Hi @L.gilbert4

Have you thought about Kingston? Kingston is a lovely town right on the Thames, I find it a nice place to live with lots going on and being not too far from central London makes it ideal for creatives as there is so much going on, inspiration to be found and opportunities.

The Kingston School of Art campus itself (Knights Park) is a really creative community, there is a river running by the campus and the facilities are great. That's one thing I noticed about the Illustration Animation course there are lots of amazing post-production studios and all the studios and workshops at Knights park are available to any student no matter what they are studying, so you can get really creative. There is also always technicians on hand to help you and you can book consultations with them if there is something in particular you would like to do for a project. Here is more information about the course Illustration Animation BA (Hons) - Undergraduate degree course - Kingston University London

I hope this helps, and feel free to ask me any questions you may have

Hi there,

Here at ARU, we have four main campuses: Cambridge, Chelmsford, Peterborough and Writtle. If you are looking to study Illustration, you will be studying at our Cambridge campus 😊

Cambridge is a wonderful, compact city covered in history. Our campus is in the heart of the city, with lots of quirky shops, independent cafes, well-known high-street brands, libraries, museums and food markets nearby. And of course who can forget the picturesque River Cam, where you can hire a boat and go punting, or simply take a walk along the river!

As for the Illustration course, we offer a variety of combinations, including: BA Illustration (with or without a foundation or placement year) and BA Animation and Illustration (again, with or without a foundation or placement year). You'll be able to get hands-on with the equipment in the labs and workshops, including the use of 3D printers & scanners and 2D printing and cutting machines, to help build your portfolio and confidence ☺️

If you are looking for any more info, do let us know!

Best wishes,
Jemma
