failing chemistry a-level, struggling to revise

So, im resitting both AS Biology and Chemistry this year as I didn't do so well last year. Currently getting around 80% in biology mocks so not too worried.

However, I can't wrap my head around Chemistry even though this is my second time doing it. At the start of the year id be getting over 90% in tests and its like ive forgotten everything about chemistry and ive dropped down to around 50% in tests. I try revising but nothing sticks and I need an A as im trying to get into bristol vetmed, for reference the exams start in 4 weeks.

so..does anyone have any tips on how ill be able to get an A this year when they also struggled with understanding chemistry? Im with the WJEC exam board

is extra tuition feasible? if it was a simple as you hope everyone would have one.

It sound unusual though for someone to go from such high performance to a middle ground, have you been OK?

I can try getting a tutor, but not sure if it would 100% help. And the decline is mainly due to me having seasonal depression which lasts from january all the way to may, so trying to make a comeback from it now but struggling, hence the post ❤️

Do you have any idea about what would help? I know that's a harder question than knowing what might not, you know you the best and the outcome is what you want.

I think I just struggle to understand chemistry as a whole and seeing how all the topics fit together. I'm going to try youtube to see if explaining it will help me understand it more, but I didn't realise how I only have 4 weeks left until yesterday so my mind is basically going into shutdown now lol
Try writing down everything you know, separating heading for organic, inorganic and physical. It doesn't take up as much time as you think it would - it took me 2 hours for organic and physics and an hour for inorganic so you can basically be done with it within a day. This will help the information settle in your mind.

It always baffles me how people were taught this and then still say things like
I cant eat that it has chemicals in it.

related to your post by a cats whisker but it did trigger a thought

😂 I legit don't get the motive of your reply but I get similar thoughts

Im motivated by very little, the distinction in chemistry. We all are taught about the periodic table, homeostasis and yet people drink alkaline water, baffles me.

Wasnt directed at you, you're this mornings muse

I know it's like a week till the exam but 50% could be enough if the paper is difficult and everyone struggles with it. Personally, I found blended learning WJEC website to be really useful, I know people might disagree but It really is a quick fix and gets you familiar with the language they expect. Pair that with YouTube videos like free science lessons, and the chemistry tutor and other good YouTube sources (pick out the bits relevant to wjec as some are only for aqa/ocr but it helps to pick up concepts). the best thing to do at this stage is do past paper questions to practice calculations and using formula as that is the main way to pick up marks, good luck!
