gcse chromosomes confusion

im confused about what a chromosome is, i looked at one website and it said that a chromosome is the structure that looks like an X shape which is made up of 2 chromatids (not sure if i need to know what a chromatid is lol), whereas another website said that the X shape structure is a ‘chromosome pair’ made up of two chromosomes. someone please help i’ve been trying to figure this out for a while now 😅

(sorry if this is badly worded i didn’t really know how to word it so that it was understandable hahah)

I'm pretty sure the first description is the more accurate one, but I believe I only learned about that at A-level. I would have a look at the specification for your course and have a look at your textbooks, revision guides and maybe websites such as BBC Bitesize.
