Hiya!

As an international student, a diverse student community was an important factor for me when deciding which University to go to, so I completely understand where you're coming from. Durham despite its reputation does have an amazingly diverse student community, with students from all backgrounds represented. The student societies at Durham largely play an important role in that, allowing students to meet other students from similar/different backgrounds and all of them organise socials and events where people can get together and have fun! Colleges are also incredibly important because each college has a diverse mix of students from all backgrounds, courses and course levels which gives people a chance to meet and socialise outside of academic settings. All of our colleges also have a variety of college societies which you can get involved with to meet people with similar interests as well as college events like formals, balls, college days, fashion shows, etc and its truly a unique and amazing experience 🙂
