What's it like to study in Bath?

If anybody who studies there can tell me a bit about it, it would be highly appreciated!

This is a very broad question but hopefully I can provide you with some insight here. Is there a particular course or aspect of Bath you are interested in finding out about?

The University of Bath is a campus university which means all of our department buildings are located on 1 campus alongside some of our accommodation, with more located in the city centre. We offer courses in engineering, humanities, management, science, and social science.

Bath is not only a beautiful place to live but its also a great size! Its big enough that theres lots to explore but small enough that you can get to know it well. Its also one of the safest student cities in the UK which made myself and my parents feel more comfortable with living here. There is also another university here so it’s a very student friendly city with lots of deals and offers.

There are over 150 different societies ranging from sports, arts, culture, education and some really niche ones too! I found this a great way to meet people who had similar interests to me. You can have a browse through the societies we have to offer here on our student unions website: https://www.thesubath.com/socs/. You also have your flatmates who you will likely meet on your first day moving into your accommodation. When choosing your accommodation, you can let the student living team know if you have any preferences i.e., noise free/ alcohol free flat etc. We also have ResLife ambassadors who are students that support your transition to halls. You will also meet your course mates during teaching hours, and you may have smaller tutor groups which can help you get to know each other.

Your first year of study does not count towards your final degree so this is a really great time to get stuck in with university life and the opportunities of higher education (of course don’t slack off the year purely for this reason!). Bath records all of their lectures (unless the lecturer has requested otherwise) so I found this really helpful when it came to recapping what I had learned and revision for exams.

You can find out a lot more about the university itself on our website here: https://www.bath.ac.uk/ and you can speak to current students using our UniBuddy platform here: https://www.bath.ac.uk/applicant-support/chat-with-our-students/ if you have any questions specifically about a course you are interested in!

Hope this helps but please let me know if there is a specific aspect you have a question on!
