EPQ topics

Will an EPQ close to my chosen a levels/major give me a better chance at getting into top schools in the UK?

I was thinking about doing a report on something science related, but I don't think I'll enjoy it as much as an artefact EPQ (which, are they less valuable? I've been told that they're harder to score higher on) or research on something artistic.

I have a few themes that are science related and non science related in my mind, and I am just not sure.
btw, I will not be doing any art related subjects at A level.

I want to go to Oxford, what would you advise me to do?

Doing something that is related to your course helps you have something to talk about in your interveiw. It also shows that you have a passion for something related to what you are doing, however if you arnt happy with what you have chosen then dont do it on that because you arnt going to want to drag yourself through it as it will get boring and just feel like a drag.

Choosing somehting that isnt related to your course shows that you have a life outside of school, and these top unis are always asking about stuff like that so it helps to show that tyou have other passions and can balance them along side your epq.

I hope this helps, even thought I didnt exactly give a clear anaswer
