Changing courses and uni- help

Hello,
I am currently a first year student at London College of Fashion (UAL) studying Fashion Styling & Production and have almost finished first year.
While I have enjoyed parts of the course, I don’t think it’s for me; I’ve always been in two minds regarding studying my two major interests; fashion and zoology/conservation.
So, I’m wanting to change unis at the end of the year (I will complete the first year at UAL, unless there is any reason suggested I shouldn’t do that). My girlfriend is also at UAL and we are planning to live in a house next year so I’m looking to be in London still, the course that I’m looking into is Zoology at Queen Mary as it looks good and is also close to the area in which I’m planning on living, so my housing plan isn’t changing, as well as not far from my family home.

I’m a noob when it comes to there things so;
-It’s now past the UCAS deadline; how do I go about this?
-Should I finish my year on my current course?
-Is Queen Mary a good uni for this course? (any students?)
I’m more interested in the conservation side of things, so is this a good course for that? I’ve had a look at the course year structure and it seems pretty good, but I’ve also read student reviews saying other things…
-The entry grade is 112 ucas points, which I have, but the BTEC grade requirement is D-D-D, my grade from level three Animal Management is D-D-M, is there any chance they will consider me at all???

also; is there any other decent options in London or surrounding areas
Appreciate the help and advice 🫶

Where do you see that they want 112 UCAS points? Can you post a link?

The reason I ask is that their Zoology - BSc page (here) makes no mention of UCAS points. They only mention their entry requirements in terms of specific qualifications. Perhaps you've just translated their A level requirements, which are ABB, into UCAS points? If you've done that, you should have reached a figure of 128 (48+40+40), the same as you would get for a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma at DDM.

They being the case, it is not clear why they say on this page that they want DDD in Animal Management with Science (I assume, by the way, you noticed the mandatory distinctions in both "Animal Breeding & Genetics" and "Animal Biology" required? I reckon that if you apply with DDM achieved, you'll probably be fine (as long as you got distinctions in those two units they mention).

As for the missed UCAS deadline, the January deadline is for equal consideration. You can still apply, in the usual way, for up to five courses. The only differences are (a) that people who applied before you can be given priority, and (b) some courses might already be full. (Queen Mary are still accepting applications for Zoology, so you're OK there.)

Finally, note that universities like your UCAS reference to be written by your most recent education provider. Is there someone at LCF you could ask to do it? It could be argued that your performance on your current course is irrelevant, and you could therefore get your old school / college to go the reference. But don't be surprised if unis contact you and ask for a reference from LCF (or UAL).

Thank you, really appreciate the reply.
I don’t remember where I saw the UCAS points now, maybe I got mixed up ahaha.

I saw the distinction in the two courses, I need to find my results again, I think I have them grades though.

As for reference, I could get someone at LCF to do it, but as you said i think it may be irrelevant. As for my college, I left a gap of two years between leaving college and starting uni so unsure if I could get one easily ahaha
