Safe unsafe to eat

The instant mash went over the use by date yesterday, and my mums used it with dinner today, though I have emetophobia(phobia of throwing up) and I don’t want to eat it if it means I’ll get sick. Is it safe or unsafe to eat?

I mean it's basically freeze dried potato powder, even aside from the fact use by/best before dates are well before an item is actually unsafe to eat normally, it's more likely that it may simply not have the proper taste and be blander or something due to age. Doubt it's going to make you ill unless it was open and mouldy or something, which would've been obvious at the time of preparation.
