teamwork, motivation and core qualities were the stations

Do you have any advise or tips? I’m thinking of applying next year but the interview is what I’m most worried about

study the gmc guidelines and do a few mock interviews with ur teachers or friends and relax for the actual interview, the interviewers are nice. They usually ask follow up questions to make sure you have access to the most marks possible. I did a few mock interviews with chatgpt as well it’s helpful

yeah I did the same, I went on chat gpt t ask a good few questions, there's good yt videos focused on specific stations and I would definitely say that even if you have forgotten what to say in the moment as long as u are confident smiling and have a basic structure starter for ur sentence ur good

So do they ask lots of questions about the gmc ? Also do they reject lots of people even after the interview ?

i used the STARR method for my answers, this makes sure there is structure to ur sentences and u don’t miss anything

there's good relatable questions on the gmc which is good, idk about the rejection. I think there is 30 spaces but I'm not sure on how many people were invited to interview

How does the waiting list work? Do you stay on the waiting list if you haven’t firmed another offer or is it okay to firm an offer and remain on the waiting list

It depends on the exact wording of the email when you were notified of being on the waiting list

Everyone who meets widening participation criteria is guaranteed an interview

Heyyy
Has anyone got an offer from Aberdeen for G2M 2024 start and accepted it? Just accepted mine yesterday and looking to see if there’s any group chats or anything!

Hiii, I am in S6 looking for some advice, i just got my higher results and am really disappointed with the grades i achieved so can no longer apply for medicine through the traditional route i got AABBB. I was wondering if i still have a chance for a gateway year. I meet the requirements for being a young carer and recieving free school meals, do you think thats enough as my post code doesnt fit the criteria. how competitive is the course, is it as competitive as medicine or more competitive would you say? Also is the personal statement the same as a normal medicine personal statement or different? Iv wanted to medicne all my life and am really stressed iv lost my chance. Thanks so much xx

Heyy I’m sorry to hear that. I think you still have a chance for G2M, as you need to meet two of the criteria and those two I’m pretty sure are listed in the University criteria’s, however just make sure for each uni, as it will depend.

The spaces in the G2M course are defintely limited but as long as you meet the academic and widening access criteria you are guaranteed an interview. So essentially everyone who meets the criteria and has the grades will defintely get an interview. The personal statement is pretty much the same as a medicine one, if you go on the uni website they have a section on personal statement with what they are looking for it to include. I also recommend joining REACH if you are eligible. I found them extremely helpful for interview and personal statement prep.

Thanks so much for the advice i appreciate it so much. I applied for REACH last year and get emails from them once in a while for webinars and stuff I havent come across anything super helpful from them yet apart from their medify voucher. would i email them and ask for advice or would they send an email if anything came up? They have never asked for any evidence from me so I didnt even know if I was accepeted untill i started getting emails from them. How can I get support from them. Also do i need to sit the UCAT, should i still sit it anyway?

REACH would normally have verified your eligibility in some way and invited you to lots of support sessions

Hi I know I'm late but I'm was wondering what subjects did you do for gateway? I'm aslo thinking of doing gateway to medicine because I didn't get the grades I need this year either, I got AABCC. C in higher chemistry and maths The B is in higher biology, while my grade is a B my score was 70% so I'm processing an appeal, my teachers have been telling me to do advanced biology instead of chemistry to ensure I get the get grade possible. Since the university of Aberdeen and dundee said i need a B at a science when i emailed/called them. Alongside that I'm also doing advanced higher English, higher modern studies and higher psychology. Anyways congrats on getting in!!
