Does Sutton Trust actually guarantee an offer? For St andrews

I have been accepted into the St Andrews Sutton trust summer school, St Andrews is my dream uni, and will be studying International relations when there, the course I want to study.
It says on the sutton website that it means I'll be eligible for minimum entry requirements and my application will be flagged. But is there still a good chance they will turn me down? I will hopefully be getting 3 or 4 As, with great extra curricular. Does the summer school guarantee me an offer?

From my experience, if you get accpeted into a sutton turst summer school, its really hard for you to not got a offer, so I think you're good. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try and should still put effort into ur personal statement etc.

hey, for some unis it definitely guarantees you an offer like at Bristol. I think at St Andrews it just means they’ll consider you more because you’ve take up an opportunity at their university but it’s not 100%. I guess what’s really important is the personal statement as that will also give you an even better chance if you prove that you’re actually passionate about the degree you apply for.

It’s not a guaranteed offer but you do get extra consideration and you’ve done really well to get accepted. It is absolutely all about your personal statement and they do take notice of their Sutton Trust students and how they embrace it. My child was the only one out of the friendship group that they made there that got an offer but not everyone achieved the grades needed. Good luck, fully immerse yourself in it and make new friends. Have a great time, my child thought it was the best thing ever and you’re going to love it

My teacher seemed quite surprised when I told them so I would guess not.

Hi! I was also at the summer school and I don’t know if you’re still wondering about this but I spoke to people about this. Basically if you don’t revive an offer (I can’t remember exactly what % I was told apply but I want to day around 60???) they literally have to have a discussion on WHY you didn’t receive a place. Places aren’t guaranteed but if you made a positive impression your chances are really boosted especially if you are at the grade requirements already.
